The cake at Urban cafe... the halloumi sandwiches at Kaza! They are truly delicious. Reading this piece was a nice stroll down memory lane from my time in Lilongwe several years ago.
Nice job! In 1999, we put together the Lilongwe Super Terrific Fun Guide. We updated it for a few years until 'The Eye' magazine came out. There are soooooooo many hidden gems in Malawi!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I've travelled to Malawi twice now for work, mostly staying in Lilongwe, and I've always wanted to find some local groups to help me stay updated on what's happening around the city. I've saved the list and can't wait to check out some of the spots when I'm back in October this year.
I was also wondering if you happen to know of any reliable local taxi drivers, independent bike drivers or taxi drivers? Travelling can be quite expensive, and since I'm usually on a work budget, I'm always looking for something that’s both cost-effective and safe.
Also, the link to the WhatsApp group for the spin class didn’t work for me - is there another way to access it? I've also been on the lookout for a good gym or gym class, if you have any other recommendations I'd love to know about them
How wonderful and my pleasure! I have two fantastic drivers I can recommend. There’s no link for the spin class (yet!) - I’ll DM you with the drivers’ numbers and Anthea’s so you can ask her to add you to the spin group :)
I will also add Kweza Open Mic and Busk sessions at Uka Cafe on Sundays from 5pm onwards. The place sponsor's local artists including queer artists in all all forms of expression.
Amazing - thank you for sharing the frisbee link - I just updated the post to include it. And that's wonderful for Kweza sessions. I've never been but I love Uka!

I need to make another 36 hours post!! Too many great spots. Urban Cafe cake is still the best! Thanks for your comment here :)

Ooh! I'd love to what a Lilongwe Super Terrific Fun Guide looks like. There really are so many treasures here!
